Enter–Stage Right!

In the world of theatre, telling an ensemble of actors, directors, or managers that you’ve written something with a conservative bend is akin to telling them that the room is on fire.  They will scatter, post haste, and one of two will most likely throw their cup of coffee in your face.

You can’t change that with the material; be it a brilliant story or song, or even a gripping monologue that might sympathize in measure with both sides of the political argument.  It’s, (as the kids say) a ‘binary’ matter. You’re an evil person and they will not stew in your wickedness by being in the same room with you and your stage ideas. We are Liberal, we are Left, and never the twain to meet!

1869: THE GUN THAT WON THE WEST!

What that means is, in regard to a musical drama about America’s 250 years of history, a history that, in contemporary existential matters, often stands on the edge of a knife, you will not have any sentiments in any way that supports the election or the very existence of Donald John Trump or the Republican Party.

Let me make that clearer: you can go ahead and write it (it’s still a free country), but from American theatre ensembles spanning the globe, you will get no interest nor consideration, and most certainly, no money.

Which is what we are asking you to be the Angel Of The Stage.

2024: BUTLER, PENNSLYVANIA

We believe that a musical drama presented with an American patriotism and a conservative journal in its spots would be well received by theatre-goers. Perhaps they would be theatre-goers that had no familiar habits with the theatre. If the odyssey of Hamilton is to be believed, a great audience may lay unrevealed for many presentations.

Build it and they will come.
